For the third year in a row, the Internet portal www.tportal.hr opened a competition for the roman@tportal.hr Literary Award. The winner will take home a worthwhile prize in the net amount of 100,000 HRK.
The roman@tportal.hr Literary Award will be granted to the author of the best Croatian novel published in 2009 (from January 1 2009 until December 31 2009). The competition is open for applications from 12 to 22 March 2010.
*Applications for the novel may be submitted either by the publisher or the author, using the online form available at *roman.tportal.hr*. This page will also provide all information on selection of the best novel, interviews with the candidates and articles on literature written by the members of the jury of tportal's Literary Award.
Moreover, the jury reserves the right to invite authors or, respectively, publishers to enter such novels into the competition, which, in their opinion, should compete, but which have not been entered into the competition.
The decision on the prize winner will be passed by an expert jury of independent professionals in the area of literature comprised of: Katarina Luketić (President), Igor Mandić, Jadranka Pintarić,Tomislav Brlek, Gordan Duhaček, Slaven Jurić and Miroslav Mićanović. As before, in the selection of the jury members, care was taken to involve authors and reviewers of various literary tastes and ages.
The jury will make decisions in three rounds. The long list of candidates, 11 titles, will be announced in the first half of May, while the short listed candidates, the final five titles, will be announced in the second half of May 2010. The final winner of the Award will be proclaimed in June 2010.
Novels which have previously received any literary award may participate in the competition. Authors or publishers of all novels written in the Croatian language and published by Croatian publishers may apply.
The roman@tportal.hr Award was established in the year 2007. Until now, the prizes went to Dalibor Šimpraga for the novel „Anastasia“, competing among as many as 57 novels, and to Drago Glamuzina for the novel „Three“, who bore away the prize among 53 novels entered into the competition
