Hrvatski Telekom, the leading provider of telecommunications services in Croatia, and Ericsson Nikola Tesla, the regional ICT leader and provider of up-to-date information and communication products, solutions, software and services, organized today for the first time in Croatia a live demonstration of the implemented trial LTE network.
During the demonstration the gathered guests had an opportunity to see some of the numerous services such as Mobile Reporter, 3D TV content and wireless Multiplayer Gaming that are enabled by this cutting-edge technology in the world of mobile communications.
MOBILE REPORTER: The Mobile Reporter is an innovative new generation TV service based on the LTE technology that enables a simple and easy wireless transmission of TV content in top quality directly to the studio and viewers without the use of the previously leased satellite links. This service is a strategic step for the media industry. It will require the out-of-the-box thinking and new business approaches in order to enable a new way of production of the professional TV program by using different devices from any place at any time.
TRANSFER OF 3D TV CONTENT: Thanks to the LTE transmission, many viewers will no longer be deprived of a good-quality consummation of the most advanced TV content in terms of the technology. They will be able to use it in the LTE network via a wireless connection. E.g. transfer of 3D TV content requires twice the size of the transmission capacity (bandwidth) than the transfer of the content of the same resolution in the traditional 2D technology. Therefore, the LTE transmission of 3D TV content is a good example of the network convergence and use of a cutting-edge technology at the service of our citizens.
MULTIPLAYER GAMING VIA LTE NETWORK: The fastest and most efficient way to ensure the communication with the outside world is no longer in laying fixed lines, but in provision of broadband Internet access services. The customers support the development of broadband networks and services by their requests and ideas, and eventually the entire society will benefit. The use of the LTE technology in the entertainment segment and segment of the popular computer games is also a good example. The users will be able to play the games wireless from several locations with the highest quality of the response on all points covered by the LTE network.
The LTE technology (4G) also enables impressive data transmission speeds, network and technology convergence and use of the advanced applications on mobile phones. The technology provides the wireless Internet users with a multiple increase of the data transmission speed and quality, as well as the possibility for numerous multimedia services used in our daily lives.
With the help of Hrvatski Telekom and Ericsson Nikola Tesla, member of Ericsson Corporation that is the main supplier of the equipment for the only two commercial LTE networks in the world – TeliaSonera LTE network in Sweden and Norway and MetroPCS in USA, Croatia became one of the first countries in the world that implement the trial LTE network.
The fixed mobile convergence becomes a reality thanks to the high speed enabled by the LTE technology. IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) implemented by HT provides an equal possibility and spectrum of services regardless of the used access network and customer device.
LTE offers the most efficient use of the frequency spectrum, and one of its advantages is the economic expansion of the fast Internet access to the areas that have so far not been covered by the mobile broadband access.
“Our customers recognize us by the exceptional quality of our network. Therefore, I am especially proud that Hrvatski Telekom is the first carrier in Croatia investing its sources in this advanced technology that will provide our customers with this top-notch experience of using all mobile telephony services. Ericsson Nikola Tesla has been our valued partner for years and I am delighted that our cooperation has been upgraded with the joint first live demonstration of the trial LTE network in Croatia. This made Croatia one of the first countries in the world that implement the trial LTE network,” said Ivica Mudrinić, President of the Management Board and CEO of Hrvatski Telekom.
“The implementation of the trial LTE network positions Croatia among the most advanced countries in the world where the fixed mobile convergence, possibilities of the fixed and mobile network and achievements of the 4G mobile communications network can be presented on concrete examples and services even today. In October last year, Ericsson Nikola Tesla brought to Zagreb a truck, that was on a world tour, in which LTE was presented to our buyers, partners and public for the first time. As innovative companies and partners in introduction of this most advanced technology in the world of mobile communications, Ericsson Nikola Tesla and Hrvatski Telekom demonstrate the achievements and impacts of the new technology on all of us by means of the concrete examples. Ericsson Nikola Tesla as a part of Ericsson, the main supplier for the only two commercial LTE networks in the world – TeliaSonera LTE network in Sweden and Norway and MetroPCS in USA, has an extra reason to be proud. Our experts in research and development centers in Zagreb and Split, and Ericsson Nikola Tesla has over 600 experts out of 1600 employees, participate actively in the global development of IMS and LTE. It is important that there are R&D centers dealing with high technologies in Croatia and that our experts have the opportunity to work on the most demanding tasks and most advanced technologies.
HT has already implemented our IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) that enables the fixed mobile convergence. The Croatian citizens can already convince themselves of the advanced possibilities that are equally available to the fixed and LTE mobile users regardless of the access network and user device. I hope that the today’s event was only the beginning of a successful cooperation between Hrvatski Telekom and Ericsson Nikola Tesla in the field of mobile communications”, said Gordana Kovačević, President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla.
