Hrvatski Telekom in cooperation with the Museum of Contemporary Art organized the contest called T-HTnagrada@msu.hr for the fifth year in a row. The Croatian professional and cultural public sphere puts the competition among the most important annual events of the contemporary visual arts.
This manifestation gathers the elite of the Croatian art scene year in year out, and its relevance is confirmed by the fact that more than 1000 works of contemporary artists of different generations and artistic means of expression were received in the previous contests.
Besides positively contributing to the Croatian artistic scene and the MSU holdings, this contest gives an opportunity to artists of all generations and artistic means of expression to use their creativity and to present us the time that we all live in as they see it.
In addition to the visual media such as painting, sculpture or graphics, the artists base their works more and more on the new communication technologies that are the foundation of the growing media art. Video, experimental film and Internet art become frequent means of the artistic expression.
The T-HTnagrada@msu.hr contest gives a strong support to the new media art production and as such it is a real challenge for the artists creating innovative and high-quality multimedia works of art using images and sounds.
The T-HTnagrada@msu.hr and the partnership between HT and MSU are a valuable and rare example of promotion of culture. As a leader in the segment of new technologies, HT proudly contributes to the development and promotion of the Croatian contemporary art and its new expression. However, MSU, in this partnership, confirms it irreplaceable role in creation of the artistic scene. The current response of the audience and interest of artists is definitively a proof that this contest is going the right direction and that it isnow a recognized and appreciated artistic event.
The works of art chosen in this year's contest are trying to push into reality more than ever, they provoke and encourage the audience to participate and ask questions. Therefore, the selection of the best 40 works among the 249 received works was a difficult task – for both the Exhibition Committee and the audience.
The 40 works were selected based on the excellence criteria, which the visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to see in the MSU gallery from 24 February to 25 March 2012.
